Planet Poker is the first internet poker room , opening back in 1998. They are a stand alone site and don't have any skins or partner sites. The software and graphics are unique, if a little dated, but they are currently working on an upgrade for both.

Some of the main positives about them is that they do have a fair number of tournaments, they have 6 years of online experience and they are set to update the software. You should be able to find a tournament nearly any time you want and they have a large assortment of games including holdem, omaha, and even razz. As for the software, they have been beta testing for a few months and hopefully they will have the new software ready in the next few months.

The negatives about Planet Poker are an awkward setup for their tournaments and a lack of sit and gos. To get into the tournaments you have to click "Tournaments" at the top of the page, just below the words "POKER GATEWAY." You'll then be taken to a web page with the upcoming tournaments on them. If you click on tournaments in the tabs below you are only shown the tournaments that are currently running. One last thing I will mention is that they do not have sit and gos, which might be a major issue with some players.

If you look at the site and like what you see, play a couple of games and see if you like it. The tournaments are a bit awkward at first, but they do offer a lot of them as well as decent, if not huge, number of players on the money tables.

Good

- a large variety of games
- unique software, no skins or partner
  sites
- unique feel to the site

Bad

- confusing layout for tournaments
- no sit and gos
- the software and graphics are getting a
  bit dated

Buy-In Tournaments - They range from $1+0 up to $95+5 as well as having a number of point tournaments as mentioned above.

Notes - To see the upcoming tournaments you must click "Tournaments" at the top middle of the screen. You will then be taken to a web page with upcoming tournaments.
